Municipal election in Denmark

2025 Gentofte municipal election

The 2025 Gentofte Municipal election will be held on November 18, 2025, to elect the 19 members to sit in the regional council for the Gentofte Municipal council, in the period of 2026 to 2029.[1]

Following the 2021 election, Michael Fenger from Conservatives became mayor for his first term. [2] The party, has held the mayoral position in the municipality since 1888, and Fenger will run for a second term. [3] Morten Løkkegaard, current MEP from Venstre, currently sits in the council, and will run for re-election as a councillor. [4]

For elections to Danish municipalities, a number varying from 9 to 31 are chosen to be elected to the municipal council. The seats are then allocated using the D’Hondt method and a closed list proportional representation.
Gentofte Municipality had 19 seats in 2025.
