The 2025 Japan Series (日本シリーズ, Nippon Shiriizu) is the upcoming championship series of Nippon Professional Baseball‘s (NPB) 2025 season. The 76th edition of the Japan Series, it will be a best-of-seven playoff series played between the Central League (CL) Climax Series champion Hanshin Tigers and the Pacific League (PL) Climax Series champion Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks.
Home field advantage for the Japan Series alternates between the Pacific and Central leagues every year. For this series, it will be the PL’s turn to hold the advantage, so home field will be awarded to the PL Climax Series champion. The designated hitter rule will only in effect for games one, two, six, and seven played at the PL team’s stadium, as the CL has not adopted the rule.[1] Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) sponsored the event for the twelfth consecutive year and will hold the naming rights for the series, with its full title being “SMBC Nippon Series 2025”.[2]

The Japan Series will be televised in Japan by a variety of television stations and streaming services. Three of the seven games will be broadcast by NHK-BS, with TBS, Fuji TV, Nippon News Network, Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, and TV Asahi also carrying some games. All games will be streamed online via TVer, with U-Next, Hulu, Abema, FOD, and Fuji TV ONEsmart also streaming some games.[3]
