Knife attack incident in Binangonan, Rizal

On January 9, 2026, a 17-year-old male was killed in Barangay Tagpos, Binangonan, Rizal, after being struck on the forehead with a butcher knife. The incident took place during a birthday celebration, with police saying tried to stop a fight between a suspect and his girlfriend when he was attacked. The 21-year-old man suspect escaped after the incident and was later pursued by authorities.[1]

The attack occurred in Axis Ville, Barangay Tagpos, a residential neighborhood in the municipality of Binangonan, Rizal. The area is composed mainly of closely spaced housing and is commonly used for small social gatherings and family events.[1]

On the night of January 8, a birthday celebration was happening at the location and went on into the early hours of January 9. Among the people there were a 17-year-old man, who goes by the alias name “Ark”, and a 21-year-old man known as “Jom” who was with his girlfriend known as “Jina Mae”. Alcohol was being served during the gathering .[2][3] Shortly after midnight, the couple left the party after an argument. Witnesses later said that Jina Mae came back alone, clearly upset, and asked for help after a confrontation with Jom.[4]

Police said that Jom later returned to the area carrying a butcher knife and tried to force his girlfriend to leave with him.[5] People nearby stepped in, and Ark moved between them in an effort to break up the argument. Jom then struck Ark on the forehead with the knife, after which the two briefly struggled before Ark collapsed. Jom ran from the scene, still holding the weapon.[4][6]

Friends of the victim rushed Ark to the Rizal Provincial Hospital (Angono Annex), where he was declared dead on arrival at around 1:18 a.m. (PHT) due to a fatal head wound.[7]

Binangonan Municipal Police said the stabbing was linked to a quarrel between the suspect and his girlfriend during the birthday gathering. According to reports, the victim intervened in an attempt to stop the argument, which led to a confrontation when the suspect returned to the area. The situation escalated, resulting in the fatal attack.[1]
