As of 2026, five United States astronauts have graduated from the University of Kansas (KU). KU is a public university in Lawrence, Kansas, and the flagship school of the state of Kansas.
This list is drawn from graduates of the University of Kansas who became astronauts. The university was founded in 1865 and graduated its first class in 1873. The first alumnus to fly as an astronaut was Joe Engle, who flew the piloted X-15 rocket plane into space in several flights, starting in 1965[1]; he later flew as commander on the second flight of the Space Shuttle, STS-2, and on STS-51-I. As of 2026, the most recent alumna fly into space was Laura Stiles of the class of 2008.
