1999 video game
Super Robot Wars 64 (スーパーロボット大戦64, Sūpā Robotto Taisen Rokujūyon) is a tactical role-playing game for the Nintendo 64 and part of the Super Robot Wars series.[2] It was released only in Japan in 1999.[1]
Gameplay
Super Robot Wars 64 features four selectable protagonists split between two story routes, the “Real Robot” route and the “Super Robot” route.[3] The story features branching pathways based on the player’s choices.[4] The game is the first entry in in the Super Robot Wars series to introduce team attacks, allowing two units to attack an enemy simultaneously to achieve greater damage.[5]
Players can use the Nintendo 64’s Transfer Pak to exchange data with the Game Boy Color game Super Robot Wars: Link Battler;[6] this includes sharing character experience points between games,[7] as well as unlocking units that would otherwise be exclusive to each system.[1][8]
Reception
On release, Famitsu magazine scored the game a 30 out of 40.[9] As of 2004[update], the game has sold 200,000 copies.[10]
