Ajhapur is a village in Jamalpur CD block in Bardhaman Sadar South subdivision of Purba Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. [1] It is located next to the villages Masagram and Nabagram The population of the village was 8,502 according to the 2011 census.[2]
Geography
Ajhapur is located at 23°08′28″N 88°03′12″E / 23.1411°N 88.0534°E.
Transport
Ajhapur is about five miles away from the Masagram railway station on the Howrah Burdwan chord line.[3] The village is also within five miles of the NH 2 Durgapur Expressway. The State Highway 15 (West Bengal) goes through Ajhapur. Almost all areas of Ajhapur are accessible by car.
Economy
The main occupation of the residents of the village is farming.
Education
Ajhapur High School is a coeducational high school affiliated with the West Board of Secondary Education.[4]
[5] It is also affiliated with West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education for higher secondary classes.[6] The village is also the home of Ajhapur Balika Vidyalaya, a school for girls studying in grades 5 and 10.[7]
