Extinct species of tapir

Tapirus arvernensis is an extinct species of Tapir that lived from the Miocene epoch to the Pleistocene epoch.[1][2]This species had a wide distribution across Europe being found in France, Italy, the Balkans and the Caucuses.[3]

It was an amphibious browser.[3][4]
