:*”’Delete”’ or maybe redirect back to the disambiguation page as there are multiple treatments that have been called “shock therapy” in the past. This article does seem to be synthesized as stated. (for reference, about 80% of the text in this article was added in one go in March 2024, hence the concern about LLMs). :”’Keep”’, and manage problems with normal editing practices, such as deletion. This clearly not a subset of electro-convulsive therapy, given the inclusion of chemical and other methods that have been used, such as Insulin shock therapy, so a merge to that target is inappropriate. It is also identified is as a coherent topic in other encyclopedias (such as britannica]), and is treated as a coherent topic in peer-reviewed research, including cardiazol shock therpay, and other forms of chemical shock therapy. So I suggest keeping the topic, trimming to cover only chemical methods (which, with the exception of insulin aren’t covered elsewhere), and adding a hatnote to describe the scope article (excluding electro-convulsive therapy). Feel free to ping me to help with a tidy-up if there is a decision to keep. Klbrain (talk) 19:46, 30 September 2025 (UTC) |

Page is full of WP:SYNTH. A listing of several psychiatric techniques (all of which, apart from electro-convulsive therapy, have been discontinued) that have loosely been called “shock therapy” of some sort, without any single source linking them together. We have Shock therapy (disambiguation) which already accounts for everything in this article. Much of the text is likely LLM-generated, to add insult to injury, though the page long precedes current LLMs. WeirdNAnnoyed (talk) 23:22, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

- Delete or maybe redirect back to the disambiguation page as there are multiple treatments that have been called “shock therapy” in the past. This article does seem to be synthesized as stated. (for reference, about 80% of the text in this article was added in one go in March 2024, hence the concern about LLMs). Anonrfjwhuikdzz (talk) 00:24, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Delete. This belongs as part of electro-convulsive therapy. Tangurena (talk) 17:29, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Keep, and manage problems with normal editing practices, such as deletion. This clearly not a subset of electro-convulsive therapy, given the inclusion of chemical and other methods that have been used, such as Insulin shock therapy, so a merge to that target is inappropriate. It is also identified is as a coherent topic in other encyclopedias (such as britannica]), and is treated as a coherent topic in peer-reviewed research, including cardiazol shock therpay,[1] and other forms of chemical shock therapy.[2] So I suggest keeping the topic, trimming to cover only chemical methods (which, with the exception of insulin aren’t covered elsewhere), and adding a hatnote to describe the scope article (excluding electro-convulsive therapy). Feel free to ping me to help with a tidy-up if there is a decision to keep. Klbrain (talk) 19:46, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
