Given that she is not an active politician nor is she even involved in the conflict, I think the fact that she has made political commentary on the conflict should not qualify her page as having the label for the Arab-Israel conflict. It is too broadly applied and should be kept only for those directly involved in foreign affairs, press within the countries in the conflict, and government actors. This affiliation is too blanket. If she gets the protection, then every journalist who writes about the conflict should also have the protection. [[User:Abs145|Abs145]] ([[User talk:Abs145|talk]]) 19:07, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

Secondly, we do not undo arbitration enforcement protections here, and Bari Weiss has inserted herself into the I-P debate sufficiently that I do not believe it was added erroneously. Before posting a request to this page, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.
To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page’s edit history and click on the “View logs for this page” link (located underneath the page’s title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select “Protection log” or “Pending changes log” to filter the logs accordingly.
DO NOT request a reduction in protection if…
- …you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
- If you can edit the article’s talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article’s talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
- If the article’s talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
- …your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
- …your reasoning for reducing protection is basically “a long time has passed” without supporting details.
- …you haven’t contacted the protecting administrator.
You may request a protection reduction below if…
- …you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
- …you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
- …you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence from talk page activity, page views, page traffic, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
- …the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.
If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it’s been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.
Unprotection: I don’t there’s a need for full protection. Maybe ECP or semi would be more appropriate. —Matrix ping mewhen u reply (t? – c) 18:45, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Floquenbeam: – I’m confused why it’s full-protected too. Wouldn’t it be enough to semiprotect to prevent socks from editing the page? ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 19:04, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- It’s sort of explained in the note at the bottom of the talk. I think the intent was to avoid any type of goading of Hidden Tempo while their talk page/UTRS ban was in place. Given the many years that have passed since the talk page protection, it’s probably fine to lower it. As Floq is currently only dipping their toe into the Wikipedia pool from time to time these days, a quick response may not be forthcoming. — Ponyobons mots 20:04, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Anachronist:, feel free to do whatever you want. I doubt protection is needed, although I also doubt there’s any benefit to worrying about the protection of a long-dead talk page of a long-banned editor who has not had talk page access for 8 years. I’d venture a guess that, even now, anyone who actually wants to post to that talk page is probably up to no good… but whatever. Floquenbeam (talk) 18:49, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected, then. Thank you Ponyo and Floquenbeam for the replies. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 18:58, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protected. That protection didn’t exist back then. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 19:00, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

- See instructions above. Please ask the owner of that archive, who is an administrator and can determine the need for protecting it. He has been recently active (but not for a month). Leave a message on the talk page, or contact by email, and wait. There are no deadlines here. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 19:05, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
Reason: I would like to add more things in which I think were amazing about her, so I would ask to be able to edit it. SasquatchV3 (talk) 15:35, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
Not done There is no such article. Ponyobons mots 16:05, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- The user might mean Jane Goodall, who indeed was amazing, and is currently in the news (because she just died). But I don’t think this is a good time to unprotect that article, especially not in order for brand new users to edit it. Bishonen | tålk 18:15, 3 October 2025 (UTC).
Reason: She is protected given (1) Arab-israel conflict and (2) BLP. But there are a number of pages that do not have protection, who meet both of these categories and have well-documented histories of vandalism including Laura Loomer, Candace Owens, Ryan Grim, Zehava Galon, etc.
