The fourth round of the competition has finished, with anyone scoring less than 673 points being eliminated. It was a high scoring round with all but one of the contestants who progressed to the final having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were
Epicgenius, with 2173 points topping the scores, gained mainly from a featured article, 38 good articles and 9 DYKs. He was followed by
Sammi Brie, with 1575 points, gained mainly from a featured article, 28 good articles and 50 good article reviews. Close behind was
Thebiguglyalien, with 1535 points mainly gained from a featured article, 15 good articles, 26 good article reviews and lots of bonus points.
Between them during round 4, contestants achieved 12 featured articles, 3 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 126 good articles, 46 DYK entries, 14 ITN entries, 67 featured article candidate reviews and 147 good article reviews. Congratulations to our eight finalists and all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of “earning” them and within 24 hours of the end of the final. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
I will be standing down as a judge after the end of the contest. I think the Cup encourages productive editors to improve their contributions to Wikipedia and I hope that someone else will step up to take over the running of the Cup. Sturmvogel 66 (talk), and Cwmhiraeth (talk)

Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people’s rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Always a pleasure to see your work. ―Buster7 ☎
Hi Muboshgu, I noticed that you placed the Fish article under another six-month pending changes protection per this request. However, someone else upgraded it back to indefinite semi-protection, as what Entranced98 requested for (despite there being only one vandal edit since pending changes was applied). It seems we’re still gonna be needing semi-protection for this article after all. BriDash9000 (talk) 16:10, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Well, different admins can have different opinions. I was on the fence between PC and semi anyway. Thanks for the update BriDash9000. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:12, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2025).

- After a motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections at WP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g.
[[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.
Heyo,
Looking to promote Don Bacon to FA. Seeing as you were the one who started the article, I’d like to ask your input on if it could be considered for FA, or if not, what needs to be done to get it to FA. Also would like to know your personal opinion on whether or not you would want it featured since you are the original author. Cheers, CREditzWiki (Talk to me!!) 14:17, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- CREditzWiki, sure, why not? But, check with the editors who edited the page the most first (it wasn’t me). If everyone’s on board, take it to WP:GA first. That will serve as a good peer review for FA. I can see a few issues with a quick glance that need fixing, like a MOS:SANDWICH violation with his two brigadier general photos in the “Early life” section and not enough detail on his elections, especially 2018 and 2022. There’s also a WP:RECENTISM focus on the 119th Congress, with no mention of the 118th Congress. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:01, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Will do! Thanks for letting me know, because I didn’t know how to tell the editor who edited the page the most without going through the page’s entire revision history. I don’t have the attention span for that. CREditzWiki (Talk to me!!) 18:07, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the semi-protection you did here for may talk page on EN.WP. However it does not need to be temporary (3 days) and could be permanent (allowing only “confirmed users” with user accounts to post there), as this is not my main wiki; and my home user page gives other ways to contact me (at least on MetaWiki where I my global user page is used by default in many wikis). Also I’m more active now in Commons and MetaWiki than I was in the past on other localized wikis. It’s hard to have to track excessive spammed notifications coming from too many wikis notably when they are sent by LTA that have largely abused the Wikimedia notification system. Something must still be done in Mediawiki to restrict more the number of notifications (possibly grouping them into a single one, allowing us to detail them only on request, or from specific sources; but not by default: there’s nothing for now in MediaWiki to limit the volume of notifications that regular users, cannot reasonably sustain without using more advanced monitoring tools and specific accounts to manage them). verdy_p (talk) 18:07, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
