  I have added historical info and secondary sources from other Buddhist temples that are affiliated with the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association along with historical information on Theravada Buddhism and early Nikaya Buddhism and its development in Japan.   Japanese news articles are often deleted from online after a short period of time, making it extraordinarily difficult to find coverage.

  There is academic study of the topic, Avery Morrow seems to be the expert in the English language literature ([1], another article by him is already cited in the article). He cites a study of the group in Japanese – an article by Naoko Takashi from 2006, published in an academic journal. I also found this article [2] discussing the founder of the organization in some detail. There is also another detailed academic treatment of the organization in the book “Globalizing Asian Religions”, chapter 9; “The Propogation of Thai Theravada Buddhism Overseas”, by Hidetake Yano. Reading through this chapter, I found he was building on his previous research on Theravada Buddhism in Japan in Japanese language research (he cites 3 previous research papers or book chapters). According to the chapter, the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association is the main sect of Theravada Buddhism in Japan in contrast to the relative failure of the Dhammakaya Temple movement to take root in Japanese Buddhism.

  On the Japanese language version of the article for Arabomulle Sumanasara, I also find a newspaper cited Weekly Asahi [jp], seemingly about Theravada Buddhism in Japan.

  On the summation of these academic sources regarding the organization, I think there is sufficient significant independent coverage to keep the article. Katzrockso (talk) 23:32, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
