Per the discussion on the BLP notice board, I am starting a discussion on the lede. What do people think of something along the lines of (apologies for poor formatting):

In October 2025, Politico exposed private messages of Douglass and his wife expressing various white supremacist and antisemitic beliefs in a groupchat with fellow leading members of the Young Republicans. His was also condemned for remaining in the groupchat as other members praised Hitler, endorsed rape, and made other racist remarks…

I think it’s important that we note that lots of the condemnation is originating from belonging to the group as other members made even worse remarks, while also noting the remarks he made. 1brianm7 (talk) 04:38, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I propose something along the lines of: In October 2025, Politico reported that Douglass and his wife had made racist and antisemitic comments in a leaked group chat with fellow high-ranking Young Republicans leaders, who also expressed support for Adolf Hitler, Nazism, rape, and white supremacy. Members of the Vermont Republican Party, including Governor Phil Scott, have called on Douglass to immediately resign. I strongly agree that it should be clear which comments were made by Douglass and his wife as opposed to the other members. ★ The Green Star Collector ★ (talk) 05:17, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
