Verniorion (real name Nico Faarpyöli, born 6 August 1999, Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music producer known for his cinematic and progressive metal sound that blends heavy riffs, emotional storytelling, and synthwave textures. Since beginning the Verniorion project in 2019, he has released fourteen studio albums and three EPs. He is also the guitarist and synth player in the Finnish progressive metal band Spectral Patterns.

Faarpyöli was born and raised in Tampere, Finland. Growing up, he experienced significant bullying in school, which led him to find comfort and expression through music. He began playing guitar as a way to escape and to create his own world through sound. As a child and teenager, he exhibited strong ADHD and autistic traits, which he has since worked on with medical support.

During his teenage years, he spent extensive time with his cousin Niki, known for his industrial metal project Juudas. Together, they wrote and recorded songs between 2015 and 2018, which helped Faarpyöli develop his songwriting and recording skills.

Faarpyöli launched the Verniorion project on 4 July 2019 with the EP Raja. His debut full-length album Willow followed in 2020. The next year, he released two albums – Traveling Through the Space and Time and When Dreams Become Your Reality, the latter marking a creative turning point in his sound and artistic confidence.

In 2022, Verniorion released Sounds of the Forest which featured the track “Poly,” reaching over 62,000 streams on Spotify and appearing on several chill playlists.

The year 2023 was one of personal loss, as Faarpyöli’s father Kimmo passed away from cancer. That experience inspired the emotionally charged album Tale of the Lost Land, dedicated to his father’s memory.

During 2024, Verniorion entered a prolific creative phase, releasing six studio albums:

  • Recreate the Evolution (26 February 2024)
  • Revelation (17 July 2024)
  • When the City Sleeps (19 July 2024) – his first full synthwave album
  • Singularity (6 August 2024)
  • Taivaanrannanmaalari (16 September 2024) – written live on stream
  • Firewatch (6 October 2024), a concept album based on recurring dreams about a lone firewatcher battling addiction

In 2025, Verniorion released the EP Luminescence (4 February 2025) and another EP, When Everything Comes to an End, chronicling a manic episode and burnout he experienced the previous summer. He also created the album ET (Educational Torture), reflecting on his school years and experiences with bullying.

After a brief period of homelessness and creative hiatus, he returned with the album Orion’s Belt (19 September 2025), followed by his fourteenth studio album Chrono//Circuit (17 October 2025).

Chrono//Circuit is an instrumental progressive metal concept album inspired by video games such as *Borderlands 4* and *Doom*. The record takes listeners through a digital-world narrative — from descent into darkness to ultimate self-redemption — blending cinematic metal, synthwave, and emotional storytelling.

Each track represents a chapter in Verniorion’s personal journey:

  • *Start Game//Enter Abyss* – The fall into trauma and despair.
  • *Initialize: Pulse* – The spark of self-redemption.
  • *Dysphoria* – Facing demons and rebuilding life.
  • *Covenant* – A pact to heal and create.
  • *Anima.exe* – Rediscovering curiosity and inner strength.
  • *Ambient//Save Point* – Rest and reflection before continuing the fight.
  • *Echo Protocol: Requiem* – Confrontation and justice.
  • *Override//Godmode* – Triumph over mental health struggles.

Faarpyöli plays guitar and synthesizers in the progressive metal band Spectral Patterns, whose debut EP *Unexpected Success* is set for release on 2 January 2026. He previously performed bass in the band ASE in 2018 and contributed vocals and guitar to the Juudas track “Legal?” (then under the name *Nighthall*).

Verniorion’s sound is influenced by artists such as David Maxim Micic, Bring Me the Horizon, Toska, Joywave, The Midnight, and composer Mick Gordon. His music combines heavy progressive guitar work with cinematic sound design and emotional storytelling.

Faarpyöli has openly discussed his experiences living with ADHD and autism, as well as his struggles with mental health. These themes often shape his creative process and lyrical storytelling.

Outside of music, he has worked in retail and audio-visual installation, including positions at Musacorner Oy, TSR-Elsite, and Atea Finland Oy. He is also an experienced video and audio editor, designing his own album covers and visualizers since 2020.
