Information icon Hello, Ann nderitu. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Ann Nderitu, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation‘s terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Jiltedsquirrel 🌰 (talk || contribs) 17:47, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Ann Nderitu, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Jiltedsquirrel 🌰 (talk || contribs) 18:24, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jiltedsquirrel 🌰,
Thank you for your message and for keeping an eye on the page. I completely understand your concern. However, I made the edits with direct authorization from Ann Nderitu herself, who requested that her Wikipedia page be updated to reflect her current official role and accurate biographical details.
If needed, I can provide confirmation or communicate through the appropriate Wikipedia process to verify her consent for these updates. My intention was solely to ensure the information remains accurate and up to date. Ann nderitu (talk) 18:31, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As you mention you are getting authorization from Ann Nderitu for the edits you are making to the article about them, this indicates that you have a conflict of interest with respect to the article Ann Nderitu. There are guidelines (WP:DISCLOSE) about how to disclose your conflicts of interest in editing this article on behalf of the article subject. If you are being paid to make edits to Wikipedia, you must disclose this conflict of interest under the Wikimedia Foundation’s terms of use, including who is paying you and any relevant affiliations.
There are guidelines in the Username Policy about editing using real names as usernames on Wikipedia (WP:REALNAME), which you may wish to review, as your username implies you are Ann Nderitu, not that you are editing on their behalf.
Please review the information included in the Conflict of Interest note I left at the top of this section for some more links you may find helpful. Any edits you wish to make to the article are best handled through edit requests, which can be done by using Template:edit COI on the article’s talk page with clear descriptions about what you want to be changed.
It may also be useful to take a look at the FAQ for article subjects if Ann has concerns about the article’s content. Jiltedsquirrel 🌰 (talk || contribs) 20:39, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Ann nderitu, either matches, closely matches, or implies that this account belongs to – a well-known living person.

If you are the actual person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking accounts with such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You are welcome to continue editing Wikipedia using your account’s current username, but we highly recommend that you have it changed to a different one first (see information below).

If you decide that you want to use this username to edit Wikipedia and do not wish to have it changed (not recommended), please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org and include both your full real name and your Wikipedia account’s current username in the body of the message. You will receive instructions from our volunteer response team about our verification process shortly afterwards. Please do not include or send any kind of documentation without being requested to do so first.

If you are not the actual person represented by this username, you will need to choose a new username before you can resume editing Wikipedia (see information below).

Please note your account’s username should not be promotional or related to a “real-world” group or organization. It also cannot be misleading, violent, offensive, explicit, or disruptive. Usernames also cannot end with the word “bot” unless the account is an approved Wikipedia bot.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.

  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia’s username policy.
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you’d like to choose is available. If the search returns, “There is no global account for [username]”, that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia’s username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Thank you. — Newslinger talk 11:36, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, since you are not Ann Nderitu herself, Wikipedia:Username policy § Real names does not allow you to use “Ann nderitu” as your username: “Do not edit under a name that is likely to imply that you are (or are related to) a specific, identifiable person, unless it is your real name.” Please follow the instructions above to obtain a new username, and please review our conflict of interest guideline to understand our expectations for your edits related to Nderitu. Thank you. — Newslinger talk 11:40, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have renamed your account as requested, and unblocked you since the main reason for your block was the non-compliant username. Welcome back. Please review the conflict of interest (COI) information posted on this page, and take care to comply with it, including avoiding directly editing the Ann Nderitu article; you can instead make edit requests via that article’s talk page, or by using the wizard at WP:ERW. —DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:04, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

== Proposed update to Ann Nderitu biography (2025) ==
Hello editors, I’m editing under the account User:Charm_Afrika. I’m assisting with factual updates for the article on Ann Nderitu to reflect her current position and career developments. All information below is based on publicly available details from her official website — AnnNderitu.com.
Ann Nderitu, CBS is a Kenyan public administrator, governance, and electoral management expert who currently serves as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). She is recognized for her leadership in strengthening political party governance, institutional reforms, and promoting transparency in Kenya’s electoral processes.
=== Career ===
Ann Nderitu was appointed as a Commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in 2025, bringing with her extensive experience in political governance, public administration, and electoral oversight.
Prior to joining the IEBC, she served as the Registrar of Political Parties from 2018 to 2025, where she led the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) in implementing reforms in the registration, regulation, and monitoring of political parties in Kenya. Her tenure included digitization of party records, creation of compliance and audit frameworks, and strengthened collaboration with stakeholders in democratic governance.
=== Achievements and recognition ===
Ann Nderitu’s contributions to Kenya’s democratic governance earned her the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), a state honor awarded for distinguished national service.
Her leadership at ORPP advanced internal party democracy, gender inclusion, transparency in party financing, and civic engagement. She also promoted partnerships with electoral stakeholders, civil society, and international development partners.

Please review and apply the above updates to ensure the article remains current and accurate. Thank you. — ~~~~ Charm Afrika (talk) 06:50, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, this is not the place to make edit requests. As I said before, you can make edit requests via the talk page of the article in question, or by using the wizard at WP:ERW.
Secondly, the above request would not be accepted in any case, because it is only supported by the person’s own website, which is a close primary source, and we have no way of knowing how reliable it is.
Thirdly, I believe you have not yet responded to the conflict of interest (COI) query; could you do that now, please. You said earlier that you had “direct authorization from Ann Nderitu herself” and were working on her request. This clearly indicates that you have an external relationship with her, which gives rise to a COI, which must be disclosed before further editing.
And lastly, according to your userpage there are multiple individuals editing using this user account. Wikipedia user accounts are strictly for use by a single individual only. You must disallow access to the account by additional users, and if you have already shared the login details with others, you must change them. Please confirm when this has been done. I will block this account now, and will only unblock it once you have addressed both this matter as well the the previous one regarding your COI. — DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:16, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, and thank you for the clarification.
I understand the concerns raised and would like to confirm the following:

1. This account, Charm Afrika, is now used solely by me (one individual).

  I have not shared the password or login details with anyone, and I have now changed the password to ensure single-user access as required by policy.

2. Regarding the Conflict of Interest (COI), I acknowledge that I was assisting in verifying factual information for Ann Nderitu with her authorization.

  I have since disclosed this clearly and will not directly edit any articles where I have a COI.
  Instead, I will make edit requests on the talk page, as I have already done for the Ann Nderitu article.

I apologize for the misunderstanding and confirm full compliance with Wikipedia’s single-user and COI guidelines moving forward.
Kindly consider unblocking this account so I can continue contributing appropriately.
Charm Afrika (talk) 08:11, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Charm Afrika (talk) 08:11, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You say you have “disclosed clearly” your COI. Can you tell me where you have done that? Also, what is the general nature of your COI? If you are working for Ms Nderitu, whether in an employment, contractual, agency, or other capacity, you must specifically make a paid-editing-disclosure. —DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:18, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DoubleGrazing, thank you for the clarification.
To address your question — I am not being paid or contracted by Ms. Ann Nderitu or her office. I am a volunteer editor who had received her authorization to help verify and suggest factual updates for accuracy on her biography page.
I understand this establishes a form of connection, and I acknowledge it as a potential Conflict of Interest (COI). I will therefore not make direct edits to her article, but only submit edit requests on the talk page with verifiable third-party sources.
I apologize for not stating this earlier and will ensure transparency and full compliance with Wikipedia’s COI and paid-editing disclosure policies going forward.
~~~~ Charm Afrika (talk) 11:57, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You didn’t say where you have disclosed your COI; I still cannot find it?
And just for the record, the subject’s ‘authorisation’ is not needed. The article on Ms Nderitu is not hers in any sense of the word; she has no ownership or control over it. It is Wikipedia’s article about her. — DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:02, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To address this:
  1. My connection is that I am assisting with factual updates using publicly available and verifiable sources — not in a paid or promotional capacity.
  2. For transparency, I’m using the following official and reliable sources that confirm Dr. Ann Nderitu’s current position and related updates:
These are all official sources that document her appointment and current role.
If preferred, I can wait for or locate independent secondary coverage from mainstream news outlets to support the update before it’s applied to the article.
Kindly confirm if that would meet Wikipedia’s reliability and COI requirements. Charm Afrika (talk) 12:19, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We seem to be talking at cross purposes. I am trying to find out where you have made the COI disclosure you mentioned. There are two main options:
  1. You place the {{User COI}} template on your userpage User:Charm Afrika, and include in it a link to the Ann Nderitu article so that others know what subject your COI relates to. –and/or–
  2. You place the {{Connected contributor}} template on the Talk:Ann Nderitu talk page, and include in it your username so that others know which user has a COI regarding that subject.
You are unable to do either of these now, since you are blocked and can only edit this, your own talk page, but please confirm that you will be making one or both disclosures once unblocked. — DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:26, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Charm Afrika Restrict others from using this account so its only you using this account, disclose your COI on your talk page and please dont use a LLM, it is STRONGLY recommended to not use one and you might be blocked for undiscussed LLM use, and I dont want to see new user’s work go down the drain. 2606:9400:98A0:92A0:D0D8:4A59:8B4E:5C5E (talk) 12:28, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification and guidance.
I confirm that once unblocked, I will:
  1. Add the {{User COI}} template to my user page (User:Charm Afrika) and clearly state that my conflict of interest relates to the Ann Nderitu article.
  2. Optionally add the {{Connected contributor}} template to Talk:Ann Nderitu so the relationship is transparent to all editors.
To clarify, I am assisting in ensuring factual accuracy using official and publicly verifiable sources from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) website and related official publications.
I will also ensure that only I have access to this account — no one else will use it — and I acknowledge the advice not to use LLMs for editing content directly. I’ll make all edits manually and transparently going forward. Charm Afrika (talk) 12:32, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I will add the “connected contributor template” to the talk page 2606:9400:98A0:92A0:D0D8:4A59:8B4E:5C5E (talk) 12:34, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @DoubleGrazing and @EditorShane3456,
Thank you again for your earlier guidance and support. I’ve now fully disclosed my COI on my user page as advised, and restricted account access to myself only.
The proposed updates on Talk:Ann Nderitu are based on verified, reliable sources — including the ORPP official website, government publications, and Dr. Ann Nderitu’s verified official site (annnderitu.com).
Since the information currently on the article is now outdated and needs urgent updating to reflect her current role and recognitions, I kindly request that the updates be reviewed and applied as soon as possible.
If it’s acceptable, I’m also willing to make the factual updates myself under close monitoring or review from neutral editors to ensure compliance with Wikipedia’s neutrality and sourcing standards.
Thank you for your time and assistance in ensuring the page remains accurate and current.
