It consists of a [[Escutcheon (heraldry)|shield]] divided diagonally by a serrated line into red and white sections. The lower portion of the shield displays a pattern of alternating red and white wavy bars. The shield is surrounded by red [[mantling]], ornamented on each side by two crossed lances, and surmounted by a small green [[trefoil]] [[Clover|cloverleaf]] set above a red horizontal bar. The coat of arms of Mosquitia was the arms of dominion of the Mosquitian monarchy and is said to have been created in 1821. It consists of a shield divided diagonally by a serrated line into red and white sections. The lower portion of the shield displays a pattern of alternating red and white wavy bars. The shield is surrounded by red mantling, ornamented on each side by two crossed lances, and surmounted by a small green trefoil cloverleaf set above a red horizontal bar. Beneath the shield appears the date 1821.
