I see that you added Arthur Rose to the List of last surviving World War II veterans as the last survivor of Operation Overlord. Do you have any links to reliable sources to support this claim? pburka (talk) 23:59, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

He was in Normandy. I have a copy of his veteran’s card and a newspaper article. Here is a link to an article: https://jewishjournal.org/2025/07/31/whats-it-like-to-live-to-106-this-d-day-vet-knows/ Here is another article:
Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America February 8, 2024 – Arthur Rose “L’dor v dor” from “Generation to Generation” with JWV North Shore Post 220 On the afternoon of Thursday, February 8th Members of the Jewish War Veterans (JWV) and Auxiliary (JWVA) of Massachusetts gathered at the residence of Arthur Rose in the Boston Fenway Community. Arthur recently celebrated his 105th birthday on February 1st and was presented, by JWV National Commander Barry Lischinsky, with a JWV Centenarian Life Membership. Art served during World War ll as an Engineer Officer in the United States Navy. He was stationed on a flotilla during the battle of Normandy. After World War ll, Arthur was recalled to serve his country again during the Korean War. Is he the last survivor of the Normandy Landing, or just one of the many veterans who participated? This list only includes the last survivors of various notable groups. pburka (talk) 04:47, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, he is. Joannathebud (talk) 12:01, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason Arthur Rose was taken off the list.
This is too hard for me to do. I am a 62 year old disabled person trying to help a 106 year old veteran. I guess the information will never be known to the rest of the world. This is sad! Joannathebud (talk) 13:37, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What evidence do you have that he’s the last survivor of the operation? We need a newspaper story confirming that he’s the last, not just that he was one of the 160,000 troops who landed at Normandy. pburka (talk) 14:05, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

i have no evidence. If you would like to call him on the phone, I can prove that he is alive and that he was in Normandy. Let me know if you would like to give his a call. He is 106 years old.
I have research and have not found anyone else.
Sincerely
Joanna Rose Joannathebud (talk) 14:19, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What about Irving Locker? AP reported on him a few weeks ago. https://apnews.com/article/irving-locker-creativets-wwii-veterans-7abe5f992656d5d7fdc14a02db9d7847 pburka (talk) 16:46, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

He is 101 years old. Art Rose is 106 years old. Joannathebud (talk) 16:49, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is that relevant? Locker is still alive, and he’s a veteran of Operation Overlord, so Rose isn’t the last survivor: there’s at least one other survivor and probably many more. pburka (talk) 17:01, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

List of last surviving World War II veterans Am I looking at the right list? Joannathebud (talk) 17:09, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, Irving Locker is also Jewish. pburka (talk) 19:32, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
