Ira Chaffee Goodell (1800-1877) was an American folk artist and portrait painter.[1][2]

He was born on July 3, 1800, in Dwight, Massachusetts, North Belchertown. He lived in the East Village of New York City much of his life and wrote hundreds of letters to family members in Dwight, especially to his nephew Lafayette W. Goodell, many of which were preserved.[3]

He died at age 76 on April 19, 1877. He is buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.[4]
