Church in Italy, Italy
Anime Sante del Purgatorio, Trapani (Italian: Chiesa delle Anime Sante del Purgatorio) is a Baroque church in the historic centre of Trapani, Sicily. Known for housing the city’s celebrated Misteri di Trapani sculptures, it incorporates earlier structural phases but largely reflects 17th- and 18th-century architectural development.[1]
The church acquired its present form during the Baroque period, with artworks, chapels, and sculptural decorations linked to the confraternities responsible for the Misteri and other devotional rites.[1]
Its façade and interior follow Baroque architectural principles, while the chapels and altars retain a variety of paintings and liturgical furnishings characteristic of ecclesiastical art in early modern Trapani.[1]
