Sir William Purves-Hume-Campbell, 6th Baronet (1767–1833), was a Scottish landowner who succeeded to the Home-Purves-Hume-Campbell Baronets and assumed the additional surnames of Hume and Campbell in 1819. [1]
Family Name Change
He assumed the surnames of Hume-Campbell in 1819 to honor the will of his great-uncle, Hugh Hume-Campbell, 3rd Earl of Marchmont thus incorporating his maternal family’s name into his own.[2]
Residence
He resided at Marchmont House in Berwickshire, Scotland.
Marriage and Issue
He married Charlotte Rey on May 2, 1812. They had one child, Sir Hugh Purves-Hume-Campbell, 7th Baronet.
Death
He died at the age of 65 on April 9, 1833.
