Mixing Wah Cantt with Taxila will compromise the Individuality of Wah Cantt. It’s compromise the 23rd Largest City (Wah Cantt) in Pakistan for a measily insignificant 77th largest (Taxila). ::Dear user @[[User:Shaheer Khan 69|Shaheer Khan 69]], I regrettably inform you that ur unfortunately incorrect in this instance although i respect your aspiration for factual information only , the Pakistani census bureau assigns urban areas areas which form urban localities, the borders of these urban localities cam be seen [https://lgcd.punjab.gov.pk/system/files/Tehsil%20Council%20Taxila.pdf here] and their populations are found [https://www.pbs.gov.pk/wp-content/uploads/census_tables/tables/table_2_punjab_districts.pdf here]. In our case all the urban areas in a tehsil are ammalgamated and their data including the language statistics are collected separately in both rural and urban areas as shown [https://www.pbs.gov.pk/wp-content/uploads/census_tables/tables/table_11_punjab_districts.pdf here], all this to say that the urban population of taxila tehsil being 535,284 and out of that 400,733 residing in wah cantonment (74.9%) i personally think its fair to add it to wah cantts wiki as long as theres a note mentioning the discrepancy .

@Shaheer Khan 69 Its nice that you are interested in wahcantt, but the city of wahcantt forms 76% of the total urban population of taxila tehsil. In that case i dont think it warrants removal, but simple explanation that it also includes taxila city. If u still object please reply, otherwise ill readd the Demographics. Traditionally, only the total populations of tehsils are added to their respective wikis, but since the urban population corrosponds so much with wahcantt i believe it should be added Ricky dickler (talk) 15:11, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message. I am pleased to know that a fellow wikipedia editor is also interested in Wah Cantt. However, I would like to point out that Wah Cantt does not form 76% of the Urban Population of Taxila. There is no actual way to figure out the actual percentage as Pakistan Bureau of Statistics does not disseminates data consisting of various individual small cities. The lowest denomination on which it publishes data is a Tehsil.
- Now after having said that, the figure of 400,733 population of Wah Cantt comes from the records of Military Lands & Cantonments (ML&C) which again does not provide the segregation between the Urban and Rural population. But, for the sake of the Argument let’s assume that 100% of the population of Wah Cantt is urban (which it is not) and the total population of Tehsil Taxila is 739,244. By doing a simple 400,733 / 739,244 we get 54.2%. (Not to mention that this estimations contains the assumption that 100% of Wah Cantt lives in an Urban setting which it does not as Wah Cantt has multiple vilages that are under the administrative control of ML&C but are outside the physical premise of Wah Cantt).
- Additionally, Wah Cantt is home to Pakistan Ordinance Factories which hires people from all over the world thereby the ethnic and demographic profile of Tehsil Taxila (of which Wah Cantt only forms 54% that too with a weak assumption) does not do justice to the unique ethnic profile of Wah Cantt.
