Lucille Barnett Washington was a pioneering Black entrepreneur who made significant contributions to the automotive industry in Detroit, MI.

In 1971, she opened an auto parts store and service center at 13200 Linwood on the west side of Detroit, MI. She became one of the few black women to own and operate such a business in the area at that time.

Her establishment provided essential services to the community and served as a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and resilience.

In 2004 Lucille was featured in the book Kitchen Table Entrepreneurs by Martha Shirk, highlighting her success as a woman business owner.

After the book was published, her story was covered in the Detroit News, further cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in the automotive industry.

Lucille Barnett Washington continued to run her business until its closure in 2008, leaving behind a lasting impact on the Detroit community. Her motto was, “For the best deals, see Lucille!”
