U.S. Space Force unit
Military unit
The 10th Delta Operations Squadron (10 DOS) is a United States Space Force unit assigned to Space Training and Readiness Command‘s Space Delta 10. It provides operations support to the delta. Formally headquartered at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, it was activated on 30 September 2021 following a ceremonial activation of Space Delta 10. Currently 10 DOS is headquartered at Patrick Space Force Base as of May 2, 2025.
The squadron is integral to Space Delta 10, which is responsible for wargaming, doctrine development, and field experimentation. The squadron’s primary mission is to execute the Space Force’s wargaming mission. This involves several key functions:
- Advancing Joint and Allied Wargaming: The 10th DOS works to elevate the Space Force’s participation and role in wargames conducted with other branches of the U.S. military and international allies.
- Pioneering Wargame Education: The squadron manages the first-ever wargame education course for the Space Force, preparing Guardians for the complexities of strategic competition and conflict in space.
- Educating Senior Leaders: A critical role of the squadron is designing “whole-of-government” wargames. These exercises are tailored to educate senior decision-makers on the strategic value and application of space capabilities.
Central Role in Premier Wargaming Events
[edit]
The 10th Delta Operations Squadron is instrumental in the execution of the Schriever Wargame Series, the Space Force’s most important Title 10 wargame. This annual event involves extensive participation from allied and partner nations, focusing on future conflict scenarios and the integration of advanced space technologies.
The Schriever Wargame challenges participants to coordinate space systems, cyber capabilities, and doctrinal concepts to achieve strategic objectives in a simulated, fast-paced environment. Insights from these wargames directly inform future force design, technology investments, and the development of international space operations policies.
The squadron also leads other significant wargaming initiatives, such as the Chalkydri series, which is specifically designed to test and refine battle management frameworks for the space domain. This series of wargames helps ensure that the Space Force has data-informed approaches to command and control during space-based engagements.
Through these focused efforts, the 10th Delta Operations Squadron plays a vital part in preparing the U.S. Space Force and its allies for the challenges of an increasingly contested space environment.[1][2][3]https://www.starcom.spaceforce.mil/news/article-display/article/4194749/10-dos-changes-command-at-patrick-sfb-expands-mission/
