Nigerian author

Akintoye Akindele is a Nigerian business executive, investor, lecturer and author from Lagos State, Nigeria. He is the CEO and Chairman of Platform Capital.

Early life and career

Born in Lagos State, Akindele is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University where he finished with a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Chemical Engineering in the 1990s, and International School of Management in Paris where he graduated with a Doctor of Business. He also attended programs in London Business School and the Saïd Business School of Oxford University.[1][2]

Akindele began his career as an engineer after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University and worked with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation before transitioning into finance, working as a corporate banker, he worked at Guaranty Trust Bank working as a credit and multinational desk officer amongst other banks he worked at. Subsequently, he worked at African Capital Alliance (ACA), a private equity firm, where he managed a fund and several portfolio companies before he left to establish his own investment firms.[3] He first co-established Synergy Capital, a private equity fund manager. A CFA Charterholder, later he founded Platform Capital, a growth-markets investment and advisory firm where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO of the firm.[4]

In 2021, he was nominated for Person of the Year by Ynaija Magazine the following year he won African Business Leader of the Year in London, United Kingdom. As a speaker he has spoken at notable events such as the 2022 ELOY Awards and at The Africa Centre, London.[5][6][7]

A faculty member of the Lagos Business School where he lectures on Finance and Entrepreneurship and a professor at EM Normandie Business School.[8] He is also an author of Forbes Books released A Love Affair With A Failure released in New York in 2022,[9] also some of his works has appeared on Forbes.[10]
