Boris Hiestand (born 30 September 1980) is a Dutch actor, animator and filmmaker. Hiestand has been the owner and director of Molotov Pictures since 2016, based in London, where they offer design, pre/post-visuals, animation production and voice-over services.[1][2]
Hiestand is originally from Amsterdam but grew up in Vught near ‘s-Hertogenbosch.[3] He has lived in London, Munich, Bristol and Bangkok. From an early age, Hiestand always loved acting and drawing, and by the age of 14 he knew he wanted to be an animator. He often recorded voices for fun in his spare time to animate. He worked on a few commercials, after which he made a voice-over demo that he sent in to see what would become of it. Since then, he has done voice-overs as a “side activity” to his animation career.[4]
He began his first major project as an animator in 2003, working on the German animated film Till Eulenspiegel. After working as an animator on several other animated films, he worked on his first blockbuster, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as an animator. He also worked on major animated films such as Hotel Transylvania and The Angry Birds Movie. He also worked on the MCU-blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He worked on visual effects for the 2020 film Dolittle. As a director, he produced 50 episodes of the animated series Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! from 2017 to 2018. In 2020, he also worked on the animation for the 2020 computer game Ori and the Will of the Wisps.[5][6]
Hiestand also works as an English voice actor for various animated series/films and computer games.[7] Among other roles, he voices Sigma in Overwatch, Marl in Anthem, Kwolok in Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Rued, Fenrir and Gorm in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.[8][9]
