Articles may be categorised here for several common reasons:

  • The CID on Wikidata does not match the CID provided in {{PubChem}} or {{Chembox}}.
    • Fix: check the CIDs on both Wikipedia and Wikidata to confirm which is correct, and replace the incorrect CID either on Wikipedia or Wikidata as appropriate.
  • The Wikipedia page is associated with the wrong Wikidata item, such as a tautomer, isomer, etc.
    • Fix: edit the list of Wikipedia articles at the Wikidata item to remove the Wikipedia article, then add it to the correct Wikidata item if it exists; if it does not exist, create a new Wikidata item, after confirming there is no Wikidata item at a synonymous title.
  • The Wikidata item associated with the Wikipedia article has a duplicate, and the correct CID is associated with that duplicate.
    • Fix: merge the Wikidata items, after confirming they are true duplicates, rather than distinct tautomers, isomers, etc.
  • The Wikipedia article is associated with the correct Wikidata item, but CID on Wikidata is associated with the wrong tautomer, isomer, etc.
    • Fix: swap the CIDs of the Wikidata items as appropriate.
  • The Wikipedia page has the correct CID in {{Chembox}} but also includes uses of {{PubChem}} with different CIDs when mentioning other chemicals (eg. specific isomers or similar compounds).
