Syrian murder victim
Ayat Al-Rifai, a young Syrian woman, was killed by her husband and parents on 31 December 2021 in the Al Moujtahed neighbourhood of Damascus.[1][2] The official Syrian media said that she died as a result of being subjected to violence by her husband and his family. After her death, the Ministry of Information and the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs launched a “Don’t Be Silent” campaign to raise awareness about issues of domestic violence.[3]
