Tetsurō Degawa (Japanese: 出川 哲朗) is a Japanese curator and art historian specializing in Chinese and East Asian ceramics. From 2008 until 2022, he served as the director of the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, having previously been a curator at the Ōtani Memorial Art Museum in Nishinomiya.[1]

Education and career

He earned a Master’s degree in Aesthetics and Design Studies from Osaka University’s Graduate School of Letters. He joined the Museum of Oriental Ceramics following his tenure at Ōtani Memorial Museum, ultimately becoming Director in 2008.

Contributions and awards

In 2011, he was awarded the Koyama Fujio Memorial Prize. In 2017, he was instrumental in establishing a sister-museum partnership between the Museum of Oriental Ceramics in Osaka with Taiwan’s National Palace Museum.[2]
