Indian educator and author
A. V. Santhosh Kumar is an Indian educator[1], author[2], and Fulbright Fellow from Udinur in the Kasaragod district of Kerala. With a career spanning more than three and a half decades, he is recognised for his contributions to the fields of teaching and Malayalam literature. He received the Kerala Government’s State Teacher Award[3] [4][5] for 2021–22.
Teaching Career
Santhosh Kumar began his professional career in 1987 as a teacher[6] at Udinur Central A.U.P. School[7]. He later became the Headmaster[8] of the institution on 1 June 2025. He retired on 31 May 2025, completing 38 years[9] of service in the education sector.
He has served as an expert committee member for the State Textbook Committee[10], Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK), SCERT[11], and the State Literacy Mission.
Literary Contributions
Santhosh Kumar entered the literary world by publishing his first story at the age of sixteen. He has authored ten books across genres including short stories, poetry, travel writing, and children’s literature.

International Experience
As part of the U.S. Government’s Fulbright Fellowship, Santhosh Kumar conducted educational research in the United States for five months. He has played a leading role in workshops organised by various institutions, including RIE Bangalore, USIEF Chennai and New Delhi, Regional Institute Mysore, and the Kodak Education Foundation, Mumbai.
Education
Santhosh Kumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Master’s degrees in English and Sociology.
