The African Trade Chamber (ATC) is a private-sector-led, nonprofit continental trade support and facilitation institution headquartered in Accra, Ghana.[1][2] Established in 2022 by Benedicta Lasi,[3] the ATC serves as a bridge connecting enterprises, governments, and investors to promote intra-African trade, market access, cross-border expansion, and sustainable economic transformation across Africa and the world.[2]
Mission and vision
The ATC’s vision is to achieve an interconnected and competitive African private sector that drives inclusive growth and prosperity through trade and investment. Its mission is to bridge businesses to African and global markets by facilitating market access, supporting enterprise growth, promoting cross-border trade, and enabling strategic connections with partners and institutions.[2]
Activities and core service areas
The chamber structures its activities around six core service areas:[4]
- Market Entry Support: assists businesses with market access, regulatory navigation, country trade briefings, and local partnerships.[4]
- Trade Facilitation & Expansion: coordinates trade missions, logistics support, export promotion, and connections with trade authorities.[4]
- B2B & B2G Matchmaking: facilitates introductions between companies, buyers, suppliers, distributors, and government entities.[4]
- Investment Promotion: organises investor roundtables, supports investment readiness, connects businesses to capital, and promotes high-potential sectors.[4]
- Policy & Government Engagement: conducts evidence-based research, regulatory advocacy, and partnerships with national and continental institutions.[4]
- Fellowships & Capacity Building: delivers training programmes and fellowships to develop the next generation of African trade leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.[4]
Africa Trade Summit
The flagship annual event of the ATC is the Africa Trade Summit (ATS), which convenes private-sector leaders, government officials, and investors to advance the continental trade agenda.[5] The 2026 edition was launched on 19 November 2025 in Accra, with the theme “Financing Africa’s Industrialisation: Developing Value Chains, Beneficiation and Market Integration”, focusing on self-financing mechanisms, industrial value-chain development, and AfCFTA implementation.[6][3] Scheduled for 28–30 January 2026 in Accra, the summit will bring together Heads of State, policymakers, development finance institutions, SMEs, and experts to discuss investment, innovation, and regional manufacturing.[6]
Membership
Membership is offered in tiered categories ranging from premier corporate to individual professional levels, providing access to networking, matchmaking, training, market intelligence, and enhanced visibility within the ATC ecosystem.[2]
