Pakistan Air Force Officer

Air Vice Marshal Ghulam Shabbir (Template:Lang-ur; born 17 July 1971) is a senior officer in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). He is an aeronautical engineer by profession and currently serves as the Director General of the Air Weapon Complex (AWC) in Wah Cantonment.

Early life and education

Ghulam Shabbir was born on 17 July 1971. He joined the Pakistan Air Force and was commissioned in the Engineering Branch in December 1992. He holds a Master’s degree in War Studies.

Throughout his career, AVM Shabbir has held several key command and staff appointments:

  • Served as the Commandant of the School of Aeronautics.
  • Commanded an Engineering Wing at an operational air base.
  • Served as the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Training Airmen & Civilians) at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
  • Rendered services as a Technical Advisor to the Nigerian Air Force.

On 2 February 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal. Following his promotion, he was appointed as the Director General of the Air Weapon Complex, where he oversees the development of indigenous air-launched weapons and munitions.
