Music is available for students from preschool to eighth grade. What you learn in music depends on your grade and level. Students start with smaller instruments and can move on to bigger ones like drums or keyboards. Some younger students, such as preschoolers, start with singing different songs and presenting them in their music concert in the spring. Music classes let students learn new songs, practice instruments, and perform together. You can play alone or with other students. Music helps students enjoy performing, improve rhythm, and understand how different instruments work. But you don’t always change your instrument. Some harder instruments stay the same from 5th grade. It depends if you are in a band or a string. Strings, such as violin, cello, bass, viola, stay the same from grade 5.

Bedford Park Public School (commonly called Bedford Park PS) is a public elementary school located in the Bedford Park neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It operates under the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) nd serves students from kindergarten to Grade 8.
Bedford Park Public School first opened in September 1911 with about 70 students in Grades 1 to 4. The original two-storey building contained four classrooms and was staffed by four teachers, including the principal, and supported by one janitor. Early teachers included Mrs. Grant and Miss DeFoot, with Mr. Darley as head teacher and Mr. Lamon as the school’s first director. Records from the period note that the janitor’s salary was $40 per month.
As the local population increased, Bedford Park expanded rapidly. Between 1914 and 1920, 24 additional classrooms were constructed to accommodate enrollment growth, transforming the school from a small neighborhood facility into one of the area’s larger elementary schools.
By the mid-20th century, the school had become closely linked to the post-war development of the Bedford Park and Lawrence Park neighborhoods. In the 1970s, another major building project added a gymnasium and a swimming pool, which broadened both physical education and community use.
The school has continued to undergo renovations and program changes in response to Toronto District School Board policy shifts and demographic trends in the city. Its history is considered reflective of the broader growth of northern Toronto during the 20th century.

Lunchtime Activities and Clubs
[edit]
Lunchtime activities at Bedford Park are fun for everyone. During lunch, students can join different clubs and try new things, and sometimes, you can even win some prizes while taking part in each club. There are clubs for students of different ages, like French Club, Robotics, Lego, Mindfulness, Student Council, library helpers, etc. But there are also lots of other clubs that change every month and every year. This means that there’s always something new to try, and you can join different activities, sports, and clubs throughout the school year.
These clubs are a great way to learn new skills, be creative, and spend time with friends and classmates. Some clubs focus on building or creating things, like Lego or Robotics. Others help you practice languages, like the French Club, or explore hobbies and interests you don’t normally get to try in class, like Student Council. There are also clubs just for fun or for trying something completely new, like sewing clubs. Joining a club during lunch is a nice break from regular classes or even after-school clubs, is the best way of hanging out with classmates and students from the school while learning something fun. It’s a chance to do something different, meet other students who like the same things as you, and spend time with friends in a fun environment. Because the clubs change often, there’s always a chance to try something new or join something you didn’t do before and want to experience and learn. Whether you like sports, building, languages, art, or games, there’s usually a club for everyone at Bedford Park.
At Bedford Park, you can see art from preschoolers all the way to eighth grade. Students make drawings, paintings, and projects in all sizes, colours, and shapes that you can see all around the school. The school believes that art is important from a young age. Students get to create and show their work during class and sometimes in special displays around the school. Art helps students be creative, try new ideas, and express themselves. Every student can join and make art, no matter their age or skill level. Students can even make different posters and put them around the school with teacher’s permission.
