On 28 January, Météo-France (MFR) began tracking a second area of low pressure, designated as Zone of Disturbed Weather 09, located in the [[Mozambique Channel]]. The system formed along a convergence zone between the [[Comoros]] and the northwest coast of [[Madagascar]] over very warm waters with light wind shear. The disturbance was relatively shallow with a disorganized cloud pattern, a peak 10-minute sustained winds of 45 km/h (30 mph) and a minimum central pressure of 1009 hPa. It was expected to turn toward Madagascar.<ref>{{cite web|access-date=2026-01-28 |date=2026-01-28 |publisher=Météo-France |series=TROPICAL CYCLONE FORECAST WARNING (SOUTH-WEST INDIAN OCEAN) |title=Zone of Disturbed Weather Nr 1/9/20252026 |url=http://www.meteo.fr/temps/domtom/La_Reunion/webcmrs9.0/anglais/activiteope/bulletins/cmrs/CMRSA_202601281401.pdf |work=[[RSMC La Réunion]]}}<!– auto-translated from French by Module:CS1 translator –></ref> |

Cyclone Fytia is an ongoing cyclone currently affecting the areas in northwest Madagascar. Starting out as Zone of Disturbed Weather 09, 09 was upgraded to a moderate tropical storm, giving it the name Fytia on January 30. Fytia later went through rapid intensification, becoming a tropical cyclone after 12 hours.

On 28 January, Météo-France (MFR) began tracking a second area of low pressure, designated as Zone of Disturbed Weather 09, located in the Mozambique Channel. The system formed along a convergence zone between the Comoros and the northwest coast of Madagascar over very warm waters with light wind shear. The disturbance was relatively shallow with a disorganized cloud pattern, a peak 10-minute sustained winds of 45 km/h (30 mph) and a minimum central pressure of 1009 hPa. It was expected to turn toward Madagascar.[1]
