Dillon DeCoteau
Dillon DeCoteau (born 1969) is a Trinidadian-Canadian traveler who became the first person from Trinidad and Tobago to visit all 193 United Nations (UN) countries.[1][2][3][4][5] His travels have been verified by the global online travel authority NomadMania, which has included him in their list of the few individuals worldwide, who have visited all 193 UN countries.[4][5]
Early Life and Education
DeCoteau was born in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, in 1969.[6][7] He emigrated to Canada at the age of 18, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, and Statistics from the University of Toronto.[6]
Career
Since 2003, DeCoteau has worked at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), an agency under the Ontario Ministry of Finance in Canada.[8]
Travel
In 2010, after accumulating a large amount of airline reward miles, DeCoteau embarked on a multi-country trip that ignited his goal to visit every sovereign country in the world.[6][7] Over the next 15 years, while working full-time, he traveled across six continents. Relying heavily on frequent flyer programs, he gradually completed the list of United Nations member states, finishing in Sudan in April 2025.[9][7]
Following this achievement, he stated his intention to continue traveling to non-UN member states and disputed territories.[6]
Achievements
- Visited all 193 United Nations member states, verified by NomadMania.[10][11]
- First person from Trinidad and Tobago to visit every UN member state.[9][7][10][11]
- Traveled to over 200 countries and territories, largely through the strategic use of airline reward miles.[6][9]
- Recognized as one of the few individuals globally to have visited every country, according to NomadMania’s world registry.[10][11]
Personal Life
DeCoteau shares photos and reflections from his global journeys on social media, recounting meaningful experiences in places such as Afghanistan and Iraq, despite often difficult or dangerous conditions.[6][7]
