Indian Tamil language fantasy film project by Arjunan Jr.
Genie is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language fantasy comedy film written and directed by debutant Arjunan Jr. It is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Films International. The film stars Ravi Mohan in a dual role, alongside Krithi Shetty, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
The film was officially announced in March 2023 under the tentative title JR32, as it is Ravi’s 32nd film as the lead actor, and the official title was announced that July. Principal photography commenced the same month in Chennai, but was complete only by mid-2025. The film has music composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography handled by Mahesh Muthuswami and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.

Development
On 22 March 2023, Ishari K. Ganesh, the header of Vels Films International, announced that they would fund Ravi Mohan‘s 32nd film as the lead actor, tentatively titled JR32. Production was confirmed to begin later that year, and A. R. Rahman was signed to score the music.[5] Directed by debutant Arjunan Jr., a former associate of director Mysskin, Krithi Shetty was cast that April as the female lead.[6] The film’s official title, Genie, was announced on 5 July 2023, with the stills from the muhurat puja held the same week. Wamiqa Gabbi and Kalyani Priyadarshan were announced the same day being part of the cast.[7]
Filming
Principal photography began on 5 July 2023.[7] A grand set was erected in a film city in Chennai and is said to be a three-week filming schedule in the set.[8] By June 2025, filming was complete.[9]
