Member Bombay Legislative Council
Gokuldas Kahandas Parekh (1840–1925) was a prominent Indian lawyer, social reformer, and member of the Bombay Legislative Council. He was also a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and played a significant role in the Kheda Satyagraha.[1]

Political Involvement

He was a member of the Bombay Legislative Council, where he voiced the concerns of the Indian people and worked towards reforms.[2]
Role in the Kheda Satyagraha

During the Kheda Satyagraha, a movement led by Gandhi to protest against the collection of land revenue, Gokuldas Parekh supported the farmers and their cause. He, along with other leaders, advised the farmers to withhold payment of land revenue until the government addressed their grievances.
Advocacy for the Poor

Parekh was known for his commitment to the welfare of the poor and marginalized, and he actively worked to alleviate their suffering.
Association with Gandhi

He was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and worked alongside him on various social and political issues. In his autobiography “My Experiments with Truth” – Mahatma Gandhi has a chapter on the Kheda Satyagraha and recognises the support of Gokuldas Kahandas Parekh in bringing up the struggles of the Kheda Farmers in the Bombay Legislative Council proceedings.
Gokuldas Parekh’s contributions to legal reform, social justice, and the Indian independence movement left a lasting impact. He was appointed a Knights Bachelor Pleader, Bombay on 1st January 1921 as published in the London Gazette 1921 Page 3[3]
