Kool Keezy (born Kirk Bledsoe Jr. on October 1, 1983, in East Denver, Colorado) is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and actor. He is best known for his independent brand and album Hustlemainia: The Million Dollar Plan, as well as for appearing in the 2024 TV mini-series Higher and the film Grit City.
Early life
Bledsoe was born and raised in East Denver, Colorado, and grew up in the Montbello neighborhood. He developed an early interest in hip-hop after hearing his older sister rap, and began writing his own lyrics while still in elementary school. Influenced by artists such as Michael Jackson, 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, Big L, Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Mac Dre, Messy Marv, and Nipsey Hussle, he sharpened his craft throughout his youth before adopting the stage name Killa Keezy.
Career
Music
Keezy began his career performing in Denver’s underground hip-hop scene under the name Killa Keezy. His music combined elements of gangsta rap, street commentary, and socially conscious lyricism.
He later rebranded as Kool Keezy, expanding his reach through the creation of the independent lifestyle and entertainment label Hustlemainia.
His 2021 release Hustlemainia: The Million Dollar Plan marked his first full-length studio album, following earlier projects such as the Bear Arms mixtape and singles including “Chop n Spray,” “Gutta Gurl,” “Pack You Out,” “Speak4Me,” and “Use to Be.”
Keezy’s work is noted for its blend of street realism, Black empowerment, and motivational themes aimed at Foundational Black American audiences.
In addition to recording, Keezy produces and hosts The Daily Culture Report, a digital commentary series covering Black American culture, politics, and media representation.
Acting
In 2024, Keezy appeared as a store clerk in the television mini-series Higher, written and directed by Nyke Nitti. He also appeared in the feature film Grit City.
These roles established him as a Denver-based artist expanding from music into film and television.
Media appearances
Keezy was featured on the 2022 Apple Podcasts episode of On Purpose With Vicki Dillard, where he discussed how Dillard’s teachings inspired his music and personal growth.[1]
Personal life
Kool Keezy has described himself as a father, community advocate, and independent businessman. He continues to record and create content from Denver while developing new Hustlemainia merchandise and multimedia projects.
