Founded in 1991 by Argentine-born interpreter Laura K. T. Schriver, LSA began as a small business and later became one of the larger privately owned language service companies in the United States.^[1] It provides interpretation and translation services in nearly 300 languages for clients in healthcare, government, education, legal, insurance, finance, and other sectors.^[1]

Language Services Associates was founded in 1991 by Laura K. T. Schriver, a professional legal interpreter originally from Argentina.^[1] The company grew with support from the U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) program. It has remained privately owned by Schriver since its founding.

LSA states that its mission is to “interpret and translate the world.”^[2] Laura Schriver serves as Board Chair, and Scott Cooper was appointed CEO effective January 1, 2024.^[3][4]
