It originates at the border of Dapu County and Meixian District in Guangdong and Fujian provinces, and ending in Daya Bay in Huizhou to the southwest, connecting to Wutong Mountain in Shenzhen and Robin’s Nest in the North District of Hong Kong. It comprises several mountain ranges including Phoenix Mountain, Lianhua Mountain, Dabeishan Mountain, Xiaobeishan Mountain, Dananshan Mountain, Nanyang Mountain, and Sangpu Mountain, stretching approximately 400 kilometers. It forms the watershed between the Dongjiang River, Meijiang River, and other coastal rivers flowing directly into the sea. The main peak of Lotus Mountain, at 1337.3 meters above sea level, is the highest peak on the watershed between Huidong County and Haifeng County. Extending from northeast to southwest, it includes peaks such as Tongguzhang, Lianhua Mountain, and Yinna Mountain, with 17 peaks exceeding 1000 meters in altitude.

The name Lianhua Mountain originates from the Hakka people who have lived in this area for generations. They believed the mountain resembled a lotus flower rising upwards, hence the name Lotus Mountain.
