Morris-Jenkins is a residential heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company, founded in 1958, originally specialized in only heating and cooling. Morris-Jenkins is the largest HVAC and plumbing service provider in the Carolinas [1], and, according to a WorkWave article, Morris-Jenkins is among the largest home service providers in the nation.[2] and [3] They provide repair, replacement, and maintenance of air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, indoor air quality, systems, package units, and water heaters. They also provide full-service plumbing and electrical services. [4] They offer a preventative maintenance agreement program for customers.

History

Luther Morris founded Morris Heating & Cooling in 1958. After 32 years in business, the company grew to 12 employees. Dewey Jenkins purchased the business in 1990, renaming it Morris-Jenkins in 1994. [5] [6] Morris-Jenkins’s CEO is Brandon Anderson, and the owner is Dewey Jenkins.[4]

In 1995, Morris-Jenkins outgrew their original office space, relocating to a larger facility on Center Park Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1997, they expanded from HVAC replacements to HVAC repair and maintenance.[6]

In 2014, Morris-Jenkins was recorded as having 50,000 customers in the Charlotte area.[7]

According to the company website, in 2017, Morris-Jenkins expanded to add full-service plumbing, and in 2025, they added full-service electrical.[8] [9]

In 2021, Morris-Jenkins partnered with Wrench Group LLC, a national leader in home services. Despite their national partnership, Morris-Jenkins retains its local leadership and management.[10] [11]

Culture

According to their company website, their purpose is, “To make it easy for customers to do business with us.”[3] They also report established core values of honesty, integrity, fairness, and respect. [12]

Morris-Jenkins offers a training course for new employees to become service technicians, called Morris-Jenkins University Tech Builder program.[13] This program was developed in 2011. Trainees receive in-house education in a training room and fully equipped training lab. It includes technical training and soft skills training. [14] Morris-Jenkins technicians also undergo NATE certification. [15]

Morris-Jenkins also offers paid plumbing training in their training facility. Training is both hands-on and classroom based. It’s free for trainees, and the trainees receive pay during training.[16]

Managers at Morris-Jenkins have encouraged employees to install IAQ systems in their own homes so they gain personal experience with the equipment before selling the product. [14]

Partnership with Levine Children’s Hospital

Morris-Jenkins raised money to rebuild the rooftop playground at Levine Children’s Hospital, completing the project in 2025.[17] [18] During the fundraising for this project, they partnered with local NFL team, the Carolina Panthers, raising $7,500 through the Kicks for Kids program in 2024. [19] [20]

In 2019, Morris-Jenkins hosted a Secret Santa Radiothon. They partnered with Beasley Media Group radio stations The New 103.7, K 104.7, Power 98, and V 101.9 to encourage listeners to call and donate to Levine Children’s Hospital. Morris-Jenkins owner and chair of LCH Board of Ambassadors, Dewey Jenkins, matched the donation, bringing the total amount raised to over $153,000.[21]

Advertising

Morris-Jenkins commercials featured Mr. Jenkins and fictional Bobby until 2017, when Bobby’s actor, J.R. Adduci, moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting.[28] During the time of the Mr. Jenkins and Bobby campaign, there were reports of Morris-Jenkins billboards being vandalized. [29] The Bobby and Mr. Jenkins commercial campaign has been featured as a “classic” TV commercial in Charlotte, NC. [30] There are records of Bobby visiting places such as the Samaritan House of Charlotte, a place where the homeless can recover after surgery. Morris-Jenkins owner, Dewey Jenkins, has supported Samaritan House since at least 2005 through his involvement in Rotary Club. The executive director of Samaritan House in 2015, Brad Goforth, was reported to be a fan of the Morris-Jenkins character, Bobby. [31]

In 2020, Morris-Jenkins announced a partnership with the Carolina Panthers. This made Morris-Jenkins the Official Air Conditioning, Heating, and Plumbing Service Provider of the Carolina Panthers. During their partnership, they launched the “Kicks for Kids” program, through which Morris-Jenkins donated $1,000 to the Levine Children’s Hospital per Carolina Panthers field goal. Morris-Jenkins was also the presenting sponsor of the “Panther Talk with Head Coach Matt Rhule” show on the Panthers Radio Network, as well as the title sponsor of “Happy ½ Hour” podcast, both in 2020. [20]

In a sponsored segment on WBTV’s QC Life and WCNC in 2024, Morris-Jenkins introduced their ice cream truck, which visits communities and Charlotte and the surrounding areas to give out free ice cream.[32] [33]
