Indian politician, DMK MLA from Tamil Nadu

P. N. P. Inbasekaran is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu. He has represented the Pennagaram Assembly constituency in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly as a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.^[1]

Early life and career

Inbasekaran has been associated with agriculture and educational administration.^[2] He is from Pennagaram in the Dharmapuri district.

Political career

Inbasekaran has contested multiple elections from the Pennagaram constituency as a DMK candidate.^[3] He has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and has participated in state-level legislative proceedings.^[4]

Electoral history

• 2010 by-election: Elected from Pennagaram as a DMK candidate with 77,669 votes (45.48%).^[1]
• 2011 Assembly election: Contested and received 68,485 votes (42.20%).^[4]
• 2016 Assembly election: Elected with 76,848 votes (38.49%).^[5][6]
• 2021 Assembly election: Contested and received 84,937 votes (40.39%).^[4]

Issues and initiatives

In April 2020, Inbasekaran was reported by The Times of India to have offered his vehicle to help a tribal woman reach a health centre after villagers were forced to carry her due to lack of roads. He has stated that he had repeatedly requested road construction for tribal hamlets in Pennagaram.^[7]

Personal life

Inbasekaran is married, and his spouse is a homemaker. Public records indicate family assets including land and business interests.^[2]
