Pim Wangtechawat (Thai: พิม หวังเดชะวัฒน์) is a Thai–Chinese novelist, poet, and essayist based in Bangkok, Thailand.[1]
Early life and education

Pim Wangtechawat was born in Thailand (date of birth not publicly disclosed). She is of Thai and Chinese descent, and has cited her father’s experiences working in Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City as a source of inspiration for her writing.[2]
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from King’s College London and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Edinburgh Napier University, where she graduated with Distinction.[3]
Pim writes fiction, poetry, and essays. Her work has been published in various outlets including Mekong Review, Nikkei Asian Review, Den of Geek, and YesPoetry.[4]
The Moon Represents My Heart
[edit]
Her debut novel, The Moon Represents My Heart, was published by Oneworld Publications in June 2023.[5] U.S. rights were later acquired by Blackstone Publishing.[6] The book tells the story of a family with the ability to time travel, exploring themes of memory, identity, and diaspora.[7]
Her father’s time working in Kowloon Walled City inspired aspects of the novel’s emotional and historical backdrop.[8]
Her second novel, I Dreamed of You, is scheduled for publication in 2026 by Oneworld Publications.[9]
In addition to her novels, Pim has conducted creative writing workshops and appeared at literary events, promoting diverse Asian narratives in global literature.[10]
Themes and reception
[edit]
Critics have noted Pim’s blending of speculative fiction with deeply personal explorations of family, migration, and memory.[11] Her debut has been praised for its emotional scope and narrative originality.[12]
