Nepalese Media

Routine of Nepal Banda also known as (RONB) is a Nepali social media–based information platform that began as a Facebook page in 2011.[1] RONB is Known for its quick updates and public alerts, it evolved from posting strike schedules to becoming one of Nepal’s most followed digital news sources.[2]

Routine of Nepal Banda was created by Victor Paudel in may 26th 2011 to provide timely information about general strikes (bandas), traffic updates, and load-shedding schedules.[3] It was designed to help citizens plan their daily routines and avoid disruptions caused by frequent shutdowns.[4]

Growth and evolution

[edit]

Over time, the page expanded to include general news, emergency alerts, and positive stories.[5] Operating on a citizen-journalism model, it relied on followers’ reports, verified by its admin team. By 2020, RONB had gained over a million followers on social media.[6]

RONB posts short updates in Roman Nepali and simple English, focusing on verified, accessible information. It frequently shares awareness messages, traffic notices, and community news in a concise, visual format.[7]

The platform became a popular information hub, especially among young Nepalese.[8] It has been praised for providing quick, reliable updates, though media experts have raised concerns about transparency and editorial accountability.[9] In February 2025 , the platform launched their application in both App store and play store.[10]

Challenges and current status

[edit]

As bandas declined in frequency, RONB considered rebranding to “Routine of Nepal.” In 2023, the page was briefly unpublished,[11] leading to speculation about internal management issues,[12] but later returned online.
