Overview

Winton Recreation Ground, known by locals as Winton Rec, and historically called Winton Pleasure Ground is a Urban park owned by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council located on the border of Winton, Dorset and Charminster, Bournemouth.

The facilities available at the ground include Richmond Park Bowls Club, Winton Recreation Tennis Courts, Winton Cricket Club cycle track^[1] and a children’s playground^[2]. (TODO: new things have since opened)

In 1865 the land which now forms the Winton Recreation Ground was acquired by the Council from the 5th Earl of Malmesbury^[3]. (for how much money – jdwetherspoon says a gift but Growth of Winton says at ‘a favourable price’.
