Farrhana Bhatt (born March 15, 1997) is an Indian actress, model, and activist[1] who primarily works in Hindi cinema and on OTT platforms. She is best known for her role in the film Laila Majnu (2018 film) and for participating on the reality television show Bigg Boss 19.

Conflicts on Bigg Boss 19

[edit]

Bhatt’s time on the show was marked by several highly publicized conflicts with fellow contestants and confrontations with the show’s host.

  • In November 2025, host Salman Khan fiercely reprimanded Bhatt during a Weekend Ka Vaar episode for her remarks targeting the career of co-contestant Gaurav Khanna and her dismissive comments about the Indian television industry.[8][9]
    • Bhatt had repeatedly insulted Khanna’s work, calling him a “B Grade Aadmi” and asserting that she did not want to “waste” her theatre knowledge on television, which she claimed was a “small medium.”[10]
    • Khan defended the television industry, pointing out that several major Bollywood actors, including Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, have worked on the medium. He also criticized Bhatt’s limited acting experience, reportedly noting her roles in films like Notebook and Simmba, and questioned her arrogance. Following the reprimand, Bhatt immediately apologized to the host.[11]
  • She was also criticized for other actions, including mocking fellow housemates after one contestant returned from a medical absence, which drew further condemnation from the host and other contestants.[12]

[edit]

In November 2025, a legal controversy erupted outside the house concerning statements made about Bhatt.

  • Bhatt’s family issued a formal legal notice to Roshan Garry Bhinder, the aunt of co-contestant Amaal Mallik, as well as the YouTube channel Fifafooz and YouTube India.[13]
  • The legal action was initiated following a YouTube interview where Bhinder allegedly referred to Bhatt using the term “terrorist.” Bhatt’s family characterized the comments as “defamatory and communally charged,” expressing deep distress over the “outrageous and baseless allegation.”
  • The legal notice demanded the immediate removal of the controversial video, a public apology from the involved parties, and ₹1 crore in damages for the alleged reputational and emotional harm caused to Bhatt.[14][15]
  • Copies of the legal notice were also sent to the National Commission for Women and the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, requesting their intervention in the matter.[16]
  • Bhatt’s family stated that they chose the path of legal recourse to set an example against online hate speech and protect her dignity, rather than engaging in “mudslinging or online provocation.”[17]

Youth Leadership and Activism

[edit]

In addition to her career in entertainment, Bhatt is an active advocate and leader in international youth development. She serves as the Representative for Special Interest Groups on the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC), the official representative body for over 1.5 billion young people across the Commonwealth’s 56 member nations.

In her capacity as a CYC executive, she organized and led a seminar and cultural programme in New Delhi, India, on the occasion of the 31st World Disability Day, focusing on “Amplifying the Leadership of Youth with Disabilities.” She is also often described as a peace activist, working on social awareness and challenging stereotypes about women from Jammu & Kashmir.[18]
