Typeface developed for engraving machines

Gorton is a typeface developed for use in its engraving machines by the George Gorton Machine Co. of Wisconsin.[1] It became ubiquitous through its use on signage and electronic equipment.[2]

The Gorton font family is specified in the U.S. military standard MIL-M-18012B for use in aviation equipment.[3]
