Laxmi Narayan Maharana (born 18 March 2004), commonly known as Laxmi Narayan, is an Indian painter and sculptor. He is primarily recognized as a “self-taught artist” known for his hyperrealistic pencil portraits.[1]
Early life
Laxmi Narayan Maharana was born in the village of Baunsuli in Odisha.[2] He is the son of Sanjay Maharana, a farmer, and Babita Maharana, a homemaker.
Due to a lack of formal training options in his region, he developed his artistic skills starting in the third grade, becoming an autodidact.[3] He mainly works under the brand name “Narayan Arts.”
Work and Style
Maharana is best known for his “hyperrealistic pencil portraits”.[1] His works are characterized by extremely high levels of detail.
In addition to pencil sketching, he also works with watercolor and sculpture. His notable works include portraits of prominent Indian figures, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.[1]
Awards
- 2021: Felicitated by the Block Administration (Keonjhar) for his artistic contributions.[4]
