Le Mariage de Moussa is a 1982 Algerian film directed by Tayeb Mefti. The film follows the story of a young Algerian emigrant, Moussa, who returns to his homeland but faces numerous difficulties in adapting, reintegrating, and rebuilding his social, familial, and romantic life.[1]
Moussa, a young Franco-Algerian, returns home hoping that this will be a permanent move. However, he feels like a stranger in his own country, and reintegration proves difficult. Just as he prepares to return to France, he is called up for military service.
This situation, though constraining, secretly satisfies him—especially as he is in love with his cousin Nacira.[2][3]

Production and background
[edit]
The film was produced in post-independence Algeria, during a period marked by migratory flows, emigration, and the challenges of returning home and social reintegration.
Tayeb Mefti, the director, had previously made several short films, and *The Marriage of Moussa* represents his most significant feature-length work.[10][1]
