Lu Xinning (Chinese: 卢新宁; pinyin: Lú Xīnníng; born December 1966) is a Chinese journalist and politician who currently serves as Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. She holds a master’s degree in classical Chinese philology from Peking University and joined the CCP in June 1993.[1][2]

Lu Xinning was born in Huaiyin, Jiangsu, in December 1966. She studied classical philology at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Peking University from 1984 to 1988, and continued her postgraduate studies in classical Chinese philology at the same department from 1988 to 1991. After completing her graduate education, Lu joined the People’s Daily in 1991, beginning her career as a reporter and editor in the Department of Education, Science, Culture and Health. From 1995 to 1999, she served as deputy head of the culture group of the same department, and later as its head from 1999 to 2004. She became deputy director of the Commentary Department in 2004, and in 2009 was appointed director of the department.[3][4]

In 2014, Lu became a member of the editorial board of the People’s Daily while continuing as director of the Commentary Department.[5] Later that year, she was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper and, in 2018, concurrently served as chairwoman of People’s Daily Online.[6][7]

From 2019 to 2024, she served as deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Hong Kong Liaison Office.[8] In 2024, she was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the CCP Guangxi Regional Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.[9][10] Lu has served as a delegate to the 18th and 20th National Congresses of the Chinese Communist Party, and as a deputy to the 14th People’s Congress of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.[11]
