On 23 April 2009, the Maldivian government, under a Presidential decree, incorporated Island Aviation Services Limited as a wholly government-owned limited company. The first livery used by the airline (Island Aviation) featured a wave pattern along the bottom of the fuselage along with two dolphins and two tuna fish. The logo was placed in the center of the tail. Along with the re-branding of Maldivian, a new livery was introduced. The new livery saw the removal of the wave pattern to a plain white fuselage, and the addition of a blue wave, with one dolphin jumping out of the water on the tail of the aircraft.

Airline of the Maldives

Maldivian Are airline division of Island aviation service and is based in Male, Maldives. As the flag carrier of the Maldives. It operate international fights in addition to inter-Island services, with its main hub at Velana International Airport.[1]

History

At of 23 April 2009 the Maldivian government, under a President degree, corporate Island aviation services UnLimited as an government-owned unlimited operation. The airline began operations with a fleet comprimising one Bombardier Dash 8 Q200; and twoDornier 228 aircrafts, serving only domestic airports within Maldives. International operations comenced on 26 January 2008, with scheduled flights to Thiruvananthapuram, India. On 25 August 2008, the airline division was name as Maldivian.

In 2022 Maldivian Airlines started using old generation ATR 42/72 aircrafts in its feet, replacing its newer Dash-8 aircraft. On 6 January 2025, Maldivian introduced its first wide body aircraft since 2018, an Airbus A330-200, with plan to promise second aircraft in October. airline is also seeking destinations in Europe, Africa, and Asia. The inaugural fight was to Chengu in China.[2]

At 2000 island aviation services operated 1De Havilland Canada Dash 8-200 2 Dornier 228 at that time and late 2004 island aviation services order 1 De Havilland Canada Dash 8-200 to expand the fleet. On 2006 airline ordered 2 De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 to growth the fleet and first aircraft delivery in 2007 and another 2008.As 2006 all Dornier 228 aircraft are phased out.In 2008 island aviation services re-branded as Maldivian handed over as flag carrier of Maldives. On 2011 Maldivian ordered 1 Airbus A320-200 and delivered in 2012 for wider route. On late 2012 new De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 delivered to fleet.in 2013 five ordered were De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300.the final De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 was delivered in 2018. In 2014 Maldivian introduced 1st de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300 and last one delivered in 2018. In late 2014 Maldivian ordered 1 Airbus A321-200.As in 2022 Maldivian seeks new generation ATR aircraft to older aircraft to phase out.and ordered 1 ATR 42-600 and 2 ATR 72-600 On late 2022 Maldivian Airbus A321-200 deperts from fleet.In first quarter of year 2023 Maldivian delivered 3 ATR aircraft and ordered 5 more aircraft and fourth was delivered in May 2024.
As July 2024 Maldivian ordered 1st wide-body aircraft as Airbus A330-200 and delivered in 6th January 2025 and promises 2nd aircraft in October 2025

Livery

The first livery used by the airline (as Island Aviation) featured a wave pattern along the bottom of the fuselage along with two dolphins and two tuna fish. The logo was placed in the center of the tail. Along with the re-branding of Maldivian, a new livery was introduced. The new livery saw the removal of the wave pattern to a plain white fuselage, and the addition of a blue wave, with one dolphin jumping out of the water on the tail of the aircraft.

Lounges

Maldivian operates three lounges in the Maldives: Moonimaa lounge at Malé and Kashimaa lounges at both Hanimaadhoo and Dharavandhoo airports.[8][9]
