Canadian entrepreneur
Matei Olaru is a Canadian entrepreneur and former lawyer. He is known as the founder of Your AI Department, an AI consultancy and the former CEO of Lift & Co.[1][2][3][4][5]
Olaru was born in Romania and later emigrated to Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.[6] Olaru later completed a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Law at Western University.[7][8][9][10]
He was a research fellow at Queen’s School of Business in 2011 and later worked as a consultant with the World Bank before joining Stikeman Elliott in 2014.[11][12][13] From 2016 to 2020, he was the CEO of Lift Cannabis Co. Ltd. (later Lift & Co. Corp.).[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24]
In February 2019, he established CannSell, an online cannabis retail training and certification program developed with MADD Canada.[25] CannSell became a mandatory cannabis retail training program in Ontario, Canada, and was approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).[26][27][28][29][30][31] In November 2019, he led the creation of a national partnership with Nielsen.[17]
Olaru has been a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization since 2018.[32][11]
